Welcome to the City of Columbia's web site! We encourage you to browse at your convenience.
Columbia, county seat of Adair County was founded in 1802. Located just off Louie B. Nunn Parkway (Cumberland Parkway), it is nestled in South-Central Kentucky within a short driving distance of some of our states most desirable major cities.
Columbia boasts some of the finest local organizations such as Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Jaycees, Columbia Choral Society, Genealogical Society, Sportsman's Club, Columbia Woman's Club, D.A.R.E., Democratic and Republican Women's Clubs and Columbia Renaissance just to list a few.
Columbia considers itself a family oriented community. We have much family involvement such as Renaissance Columbia "Downtown Days", Mark Twain Marching Band Festival, 4th of July Celebration and the Adair County Fair.
Columbia offers the whole list of amenities associated with a small community; family values, friendly people, low crime rate, strong work ethic and involved leadership.
Columbia's reputation as the “Gem of Kentucky” is priceless and will be maintained as a result of our community vision and thoughtful planning. As a community, we value our small college town atmosphere settled among the rich, rural landscape and regional lakes. To preserve our heritage, we seek to encourage diversified opportunities for growth while enhancing community character and the quality of life for our citizens. We also seek to establish a strong, well-integrated city that fosters local businesses and industries, while striving to maintain a clean, safe, well governed, fiscally sound and environmentally pleasant community. This strong sense of community and vision will be achieved through the will and vested interest of our citizens.
As the historic, civic and commercial heart of Adair County, WE ARE LOOKING BACK TO FORGE AHEAD.
